Toddler Pillow Cases

When baby begins to get older and sleeps with a pillow, choosing a pretty pillow case is an excellent way to add a decorative touch to the baby’s room. You’ll find that there are many different cases to choose from. If you’re looking for specifically designed ones  for girls or boys, you won’t be disappointed. There are a number of them to choose from that are available in a wide variety of materials, patterns, prints, and designs. However, it is important to understand that under no circumstance should newborn babies and infants sleep in a crib with a pillow. This has been linked to SIDS and the recommendation is that there are no stuffed animals or other objects in the crib. Yet, you can always decorate the nursery with beautiful baby pillows and baby blankets that have been embroidered with baby’s name, birth date, and other information, as long as you always remove these items before putting baby to sleep.

When baby is older and begins sleeping with a pillow, preferably by the age of two, you might want to consider basing your choice upon the weather. A flannel pillow case is an excellent choice for those who are in cooler climates. Combined with the whimsical designs on flannel children’s bedding, they are a perfect addition to the set. Keeping baby warm no matter what the weather is an important aspect of the child’s health. Depending upon the temperature you keep your home, you might find that flannel sheets and  cases are perfect for year round use.

If you are looking for other solutions for  bedding sets you might consider choosing cotton. Cotton is a breathable fabric and can help keep baby dry and comfortable during the night. It is a good idea to choose organic cotton, as these have not been harvested with the use of chemical pesticides. Since the  sheets surround your child during his or her sleep, it is imperative to choose fabrics free from pesticides.

Embroidering the  bedding will depend greatly upon your skill at needlework. If you have a sewing machine that is capable of embroidery, you will save plenty of time. To ensure that you don’t make any mistakes, work slowly and carefully, and always make a test design on a scrap piece of fabric before working on the pillow case. Other options include embroidery by hand, as well as counted cross stitch. For those who don’t feel comfortable working on a machine or with hand embroider, cross stitch is a viable method.
